D-D DC750 aquarium Chiller. So you are looking for an aquarium chiller otherwise I surmise that you would not be reading this. It is fairly obvious what you want it for but, the questions you will want answering is which one? Let’s try and help. What do want from a chiller? I will answer in the order that I myself would prioritise. DC750 Reliability. We have sold the D-D DC750 aquarium Chiller for many years, getting through many more than you would think for lovely warm England, and have had very few problems I remember on one of the early units we had to change the screen. It still worked but we could not see the numbers. Another had a temperature probe replaced at around five years old. We have one on a display instore that’s over ten years old still plodding on. All the saltwater systems in store have coolers and one summer, one of these broke a replacement took 5 weeks, we now have a spare. With temperatures souring, the fish were not happy. So, we put a DC750 on a 3000 litre system it was enough to keep the edge of. That chiller did not switch of for five weeks and they are not designed for that punishment. Yes, it still worked and now resides on our display tank. D-D DC750 aquarium Chiller, Is It Quiet? Not Much to say here apart from yes it is, very quiet. Plastic Outer Casing. The DC750 aquarium Cooler from D-D, manufactured in China and there is nothing wrong with that. It must be said its well built and I can promise that this is a good strong unit. Sure it does not have the metal outer casing that some other units have but, that’s a good thing as it will not rust. We have some much bigger commercial units in the shop and they all have rusty spots. Rusty spots wont stop them working but who wants them. I do not know if the outer casing is plastic by design or not but, I do know which is best. So don’t think that metal housed units are better they are not, especially around saltwater. Do I Need An aquarium Chiller. Most people purchase a chiller in frantic desperation in the midst of losing their precious and costly livestock. The truth however is that Chillers or coolers as they are also known are worth their weight in high end corals. Aquarists are hard to persuade that a cooler fitted right from the beginning of your reefing journey will pay dividends. Coolers or chillers and in this case, specifically the D-D DC750 Cooler or it’s smaller sibling DC300, enable the hobbyist to maintain a stable temperature throughout the year. The elimination of temperature swings is massively positive for any tank but absolutely for a reef tank. Just think about coral bleaching. For installation of the D-D DC750 aquarium Chiller on its own loop we recommend Wet pump set up either the TMC Reef Pump 2000 or the Eheim CompactON 1000 Dry pump set up either the Eheim Universal 1250 Pump or the Ecotech Vectra S2 Return Pump Do not forget pipes, fittings an hose clips please phone 0161 476 4428 if you need any help with this.
