Firstly the Aqua One AquaNano 40 pre filters are too fine and restrict the flow really quickly. This is easily solved by raising them slightly about 15mm. That’s enough to maintain good flow and still benefit from the cartridges. Alternatively they can be replaced with a sponge cut to size. One of the cartridges has carbon in which is a good addition but, carbon can be used in a filter bag in one of the chambers instead. Secondly the pump is installed high up in the last chamber this leads to the pump frequently sucking air as water is lost via evaporation. This is again easily solved by repositioning the pump at the bottom of the chamber and extending the pipe. Don’t let the niggles put you off all in all the Aqua One AquaNano 40 is a great little tank. We just feel it is best to prewarn you just as we would if you shopped in store.
